Royal Caribbean's Bermuda ship to divert to Atlantic Canada due to Hurricane Gonzalo
As dangerous Hurricane Gonzalo bore down on Bermuda late Friday, Royal Caribbean International set a new northbound itinerary for Explorer of the Seas' Saturday sailing from Bayonne, N.J.'s Cape Liberty. Explorer of the Seas will call at Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Monday Oct. 20 and St. John, New Brunswick, on Tuesday Oct. 21.
'We appreciate that this is a significant change to the original itinerary and we appreciate our guests’ understanding and cooperation,' a Royal Caribbean spokeswoman said. As a goodwill gesture, the company will provide each stateroom with an on-board credit. A letter with the credit amount will be delivered to staterooms.
Passengers who choose not to sail will get a future cruise certificate for 25% of the fare paid. This may be used for a cruise on any Royal Caribbean ship.
