Grounding off Hydra

The "FGM Commander" remained stuck south of the islet of Dokos. The ship was loaded with a cargo of 7513 tons iron bars. The tugs "Karapiperis 14" and "Hector" as well as the anti polution vessel "Aegis 1" were sent to the accident site, but the captain of the ship refused any help and tried to refloat it with own means, but so far without success. The port Authority of Hydra was informed by the Unified Search and Rescue Center, and representatives of the authority proceeded to the casualty on board the passenger-tourist boat "Ritsa". The crew of 18 were found safe. Pollution was observed at the grounding site, and the master confirmed water ingress.
