Worker dead after inhaling poisonous gas

Mon Sep 06 09:51:24 CEST 2021 Timsen

Three Syrian workers in Beirut port inhaled poisonous gas emitted by cattle feed on board of the 'FM Spiridon' on Sep 3, 2021. The feed was soaked by sea water, which had entered the compartment through portholes after the ship developed a list, and which had triggered the gas emission. Two workers lost consciousness, but Civil Defense team of rescuers managed to recover them alive. The third worker died on the spot. It was not immediately known if the affected persons were port workers or crew members of the ship which remained stationary as of Sep 6.
