Grounding off Kolding

Sat Jan 27 21:39:23 CET 2018 Timsen

On Jan 26, 2018, at 10.08 p.m. the "Frakt Fjord" ran aground in the Kolding Fjord. A refloating attempt in the morning of Jan 27 failed, and the next attempt was planned for the evening of Jan 28 when the tide seemed to be more suitable. The Danish Defense Operations Center was monitoring the site with the patrol boat "Nymfen" to investigate whether an oil spill had occurred. the Danish tug "Obelix“ (IMO-No.: 9691448) was deployed from Aarhus to the grounding site on Jan 28. Actually the hull seemed to have remained intact. There was no reason to believe that there has been alcohol involved in the accident. The accident happeneed when the pilot was maneuvering the vessel through the straight narrow fairway into Kolding Harbor. The "Frakt Fjord" was on its way from Mo I Rana, Norway, with a load of gravel and sand. Once she has been refloated, the Norwegian captain and the shipping company has been ordered to sail into Kolding, where the vessel will be examined for damage.
