Fire in accomodation block off Datca
The 'SNP Sky', en route from Figueira da Foz to Iskenderun, suffered a fire in the accommodation block at Datca anchorage on Feb 9, 2022. The fire could be extinguished by the crew. One crew member was injured during fire fighting and was transferred onto a patrol boat of the Coast Guard which came for assistance, and taken to shore for further medical treatment in hospital. The technical inspections have been completed on Feb 11, and the vessel resumed its voyage around 7 p.m. with an ETA at Iskenderun as of Feb 14.
Grounding off Flixborough
The "Frisium", en route from Rotterdam to Flixborough with a crew of five on board, ran aground in position 53 37 08.14 N, 000 42 15.0 W, on Feb 9, 2019, at 3 a.m. At 12.30 a.m. the lines holding the vessel parted, and the vessel started drifting, before running aground. The vessel was refloated on the rising tide at 08.40 a.m. but was unable to berth at Flixborough, so it moved river upstream to the Neap House Wharf with tug escort, where it was attached with extra lines. The ship was carrying 1442 tonnes of magnesite on board. The "Frisium" sailed from the Oaze Small Ships Anchorage on Feb 13 at 3 a.m.
