One dead in collision in Minjiang River estuary
At least one man died after the two cargo ships "Fuhang 89" and "Yong de Sheng 168" collided and one sank in the Minjiang River estuary in East China's Fujian province early in the morning of Feb 27, 2013. A total of eight crewmen from both vessels were rescued. All five men from the"Fuhang 89" were safe; three men that were aboard the "Yong de Sheng 168" were also successfully rescued. One has been confirmed dead from the ship. Officials were attempting to verify the exact number of crewmembers that were onboard the "Yongdesheng 168" at the time of the collision. Other reports have stated that seven were still missing, but this has not been confirmed. Rescue ships and helicopters were still on scene. An investigation has been launched into the cause of this incident.
