Fishing vessel sank after water ingress and blackout
The 'Cintharth' suffered a complete blackout and water ingress in pos. 48 32 34.8 N, 009 56 46.2 W with five crew members on board on Aug 30, 2022, at 6.40 p.m. UTC and issued a distress call 160 nautical miles south-west of the Isles of Scilly. The research vessel 'James Cook' (IMO: 9338242) diverted to the position at 7.45 p.m. The 'Macy Charlie' took the ship in tow to to Guilvinec. The water ingress could timewise be slowed down. Also the 'Tigress II' came to assist and provided pumps at 9.45 p.m. The fishing vessel 'Kerflous' (IMO: 8705151) was proceeding to the position as well. On Aug 31 at 2.50 a.m. the situation on board worsened, as the pumps were no longer coping with the water ingress, and the ship was abandoned by the crew. The 'Macy Charlie' dropped the tow, and the crew of the 'Cintharth' boarded a liferaft and was picked up by the 'Kerflous' and taken to Kerflous at 6 a.m. The 'James Cook' remained on standby for safety. The ship sank in position 48 20 00 N, 008 17 29 W on Aug 31 at 2.25 p.m. The 'Bigoudens du Kerflous'transported the castaways back to Guilvinec on Sep 1. Trawler grounded off Loctudy
On June 10, 2018, at 4.30 a.m. the "Hent-ar-Mor I - GV.722678“, 90 gt, ran aground near the port of Loctudy in Finistère. The trawler was coming back from fishing and got stuck in a short distance of the lighthouse of Perdrix with a list to starboard. The crew of five remained uninjured. Three of them were evacuated, only the skipper and one of his sailors remained on board to allow to restart the machine when conditions permitted. The ship was resting on sandy bottom. The CROSS Corsen notified the SNSM to assist the trawler with rising tide. The "Ile-Tudy", the lifeboat of the station in Loctudy, however, attended, but did not have to intervene. The "Hent-ar-Mor I" was able to get off without help and returned to the port at 1.30 p.m. No damage was found. Repairs nearly completed
Repairs of the "Cittharth" were in the final stages on June 10 in Hendaye when the ship was relieved of the cradles of the port crane. The ship had run aground on rocks in the Bay Saint-Jean-de-Luz on Mar 4. The skipper of the boat, Ludovic Le Roux and his team hoped that the trawler would sail again until early July in time for the tuna fishing season and partly save the season. The redelivery of the "Cintharth" was scheduled for June 15 in Hendaye. It will still remain in dock for final adjustments and return to the Atlantic around the 22 June. It took the company amakona Pasajes 35 days to repair the hull. The Mendiola SA was responsible for joinery, Indumac for paints, and Diougoant took care of engines and EMCE for the electricity.
