Vroon's livestock carrier Greyman Express undertakes first shipment of livestock to Cambodia

Fri Aug 12 09:02:20 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Livestock carrier Greyman Express was recently part of an historic moment. In June the vessel transported 2,760 head of Australian cattle to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. This journey marked the start of a cattle trade between Australia and Cambodia and was the first delivery of beef cows from the Pacific nation since Phnom Penh and Canberra finalised health protocols two years ago. Greyman Express is one of seven next‐generation livestock vessels built in China for Livestock Express. The vessels incorporate a revolutionary bow design that ensures maximum comfort for cargo and crew, while maintaining high speeds. Optimal pen arrangements guarantee smooth loading and discharging, whilst providing all livestock with easy access to water and fodder. The innovative bow design also achieves fuel savings. The vessels boast a cargo capacity of approximately 4,600m2, with a cruising range of around 18,000 NM; sufficient for a voyage from Brazil to China and back without refuelling. They are fitted with animal welfare services (ventilation/watering/feeding) that exceed Australian (AMSA) regulations, considered to be the world’s most stringent.
