Engine failure off Kea

The "Guler" suffered engine failure in the Aegean Sea northwest of Kea en route to Durres on Aug 28, 2016. The disabled ship was towed to Lavrio and anchored off the port. It was banned from sailing until repairs have been carried out.

Collision in the Dardanelles

In the afternoon of Aug 23, 2016, the "Piri Reis" was incollision with the "Guler" in the Dardanelles. Both vessels were proceeding in southern direction and taken to the Erenkoy anchorage after the collision. The "Guler" was en route from Istanbul to Durres at the time of the accident, the "Piri Reis" from Nikolayev to Libya.

Gulen breached in grounding, directed to Venice

Divers who inspected the "Guler" at Corfu found that the hull had been breached and the ship had water ingress. It had been loaded with iron ore pellets when it grounded on the Corfu beach. The "Guler" en route from Thessaloniki to Marghera had grounded on Sep 23 at 7.30 a.m. in the Katavolos area, in the strait between Corfu and mainland. It was refloated in the early hours of Sep 24.
