Tanker under repair in Tuzla

Fri Mar 27 10:45:21 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'Haci Telli' which had suffered an engine failure at Tasucu in August 2019, was under repair at a shipyard at Tuzla since March 5, after repairs could not be carried out by the crew and a tug was called to take the tanker in tow. The towage had started on Feb 26. On March 3 the ship arrived in Istanbul waters where the completion of formalities including a detailed damage survey by class surveyors, shipyard engineers and owners superintendent, was carried out. A new set of spare parts has been provided by the owners of the vessel. The pumping arrangement, pipes and cargo pumps renewal as well as steel replacements were being conducted by technical teams. In mid-June 2020 propeller and rudder system maintenance have been completed. Cutting steel from the deformed sections and welding in new steel was being carried out. On July 1 the permanent repairs have been completed. The vessel shifted from the repair yard to Kartal anchorage in order to carry out sea trials and final performance tests under supervision of class surveyors. A new set of trading certificates was to be issued by the classification society and flag state authority upon completion of final tests.

Tanker seized in Zuwarah

Fri Mar 03 10:07:42 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Haci Telli" with 11 crew members on board was seized in Zuwarah, northwest Libya due to a commercial dispute. The vessel was detained because only part of the loaded oil product was paid bythe charterer. Turkey on Mar 1, 2017, already slated the seizure as an act of piracy. According to a Turkish agency, the man who chartered the ship and his Libyan partner did not repay $ 433,000, which was the price of the oil the tanker was carrying at that time. The crew was detained until the sum has been paid. The businessman had already paid $ 280,000 in debts, which did not contribute to the release of the crew.
