Hanjin Shipping vessel involved in collision off Singapore

Hanjin Shipping containership Hanjin New York has dragged anchor off Singapore colliding with MSC containership MSC Claudia, The New Paper reports. The incident occurred on Friday while both vessels were anchored at the Eastern Bunkering “A” area near the Singapore Anchorage off Changi Naval Base. The New Paper quotes an Maritime and Port Authority spokesperson as saying the Hanjin New York dragged anchor, before striking the bow of the MSC vessel. Ten containers from the 8,586-teu Hanjin-owned vessel fell onto the MSC ship’s bow, while another fell into the sea. There are no reports of pollution or injury to the crew, however both vessels sustained minor damage. Man fell over board

A crew member fell overboard from the "Hanjin New York" in the Malacca Strait in position 01 17.155 N 103 18.603 E at the Singapore approaches in the afternoon of May 31, 2013, odin.tc reports. No other details were available yet. The vessel which moored in Singapore Port at 5.40 p.m. left the port again bound for Hong Kong on June 1 at 8.30 a.m.
