Cool Time-Lapse Video Of BigLift Vessel Carrying LPG Tanks

Fri Aug 28 09:19:54 CEST 2015 arnekiel

BigLift carried 18 Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) tanks in three shipments from Terneuzen, the Netherlands to St Croix, Virgin Islands. Happy Ranger made two consecutive voyages with eight tanks each time and Transporter carried the two remaining pieces. Some creative solutions were necessary to stow these big tanks. They were quite impressive at about 315 mt, with a length of 53 m and being nearly 7 m in diameter. Therefore, Happy Ranger crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice with two tanks protruding slightly over her portside. It goes without saying that BigLift engineering made sure that the tanks were sufficiently sea fastened and that all the cargo safely reached St Croix. Happy Ranger boarded by Greenpeace activists

Mon Aug 26 11:49:27 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Aug 26, 2013, Greenpeace activists entered the "Happy Ranger" off Fehmarn between the German and Danish coast. They had shadowed the ship with the "Arctic Sunrise" and five rafts before six activist boarded the ship's cranes. The vessel was carrying a steam generator of the French nuclear company Areva transported to be used for the construction of the EPR reactor in Olkiluoto, Finland. The activists demanded the stop of work on the reactor. The activists intended to spend the night on the freighter. The captain of the "Happy Ranger" pledged not to use force against the protesters.
