Wreck towed to Askvoll

Sat Sep 29 21:53:55 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Heiko" was pulled off the ground off Flatøy close to Askvoll in the afternoon of Sep 29 by two tugs. The ship was pulled to the dock in Askvoll. The tow took only half an hour and went well. The Askvoll fire department coordinated the operation which was carried out by the Dutch company Smit Salvage. Once in port divers were sent down to investigate the damage. Another leak was discovered on the way to shore, and the divers worked in the afternoon to stop the water ingress. The ship listed to starboard side and was surrounded by an oil boom.
