Grounding near Trimingham
The 'Helgafell', en route from Runavik to Rotterdam with 13 crew members on board, ran aground in position 53 08 01N, 001 54 04E, about 24.9 nautical miles of Trimingham, on July 4, 2021, at 6.15 a.m. The propulsion system wasstill in the water, and the crew removed some ballast. The ship refloated with own means at 10.47 a.m. The systems were reported to be operational, and it has been confirmed that there was no water ingress. The ship berthed at the RST Shortsea Container Terminal North in Rotterdam the same dy at 9.20 p.m.
Main engine fuel pipe issue
The "Helgafell", en route from Kollafjordur to Rotterdam, went adrift due to an issue with main engine fuel pipe, in position 53 04 21.6 N, 001 26 42.0 E, on Feb 3, 2019, at 10.30 a.m. The issue was rectified in 10 minutes, and the vessel resumed its journey to Rotterdam, where it arrived at 9.20 p.m. the same day.
Container loss in North Atlantic
The "Helgafell" lost 10 containers overboard in the North Atlantic on Feb 20, 2016, while en route from Reykjavik and Vestmannaeyjar to Immingham. The boxes sank quickly, others were damaged by the stormy seas.
