Freighter broke mooring lines

Wed May 22 10:08:10 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Neptune", with a crew of seven on board, broke its mooring lines during cargo discharge operations at the Peruvian Wharf in London on May 20, 2019, at 7 p.m. The captain stated that the vessel did have enough rope to continue and a list of four to five degrees to port side. The Port of London authority tasked a harbour vessel to investigate and escort. The vessel was instructed to sail to Gravesend. The berth was inspected in daylight by the harbour master and berth owner. Approximately, 500 tonnes of cargo were discharged before slipping berth. The ship left London on May 22 at 5.30 a.m., bound to Calais, ETA 5 p.m.

Engine damage off Margate

Fri Feb 15 10:48:33 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Neptune", en route from Northfleet, where it had sailed on Feb 12, 2019, to Whitstable with a crew of seven on board suffered an oil leakage in the cooling system, due to which only one engine was operable, in position 051 25 08 N, 001 22 35 E, in the morning of Feb 14. The vessel was subsequently anchored at the Margate Roads Anchorage. While it has been reported that the vessel did not ask for any assistance, it was sailing at a reduced speed. After it turned out that only one engine was repairable, the ship moored at the port of Ramsgate on Feb 15 at 6.40 a.m. to effect repairs and sailed again on Feb 16 at 7 p.m. bound to Dordrecht, where it berthed on Feb 19.

Run aground cargo ship off Margate coast resumes journey

Mon Oct 09 07:30:16 CEST 2017 arnekiel

A cargo vessel carrying broken glass has been refloated after it ran aground off the Kent coast. The 75-metre Islay Trader became stuck near Margate Harbour about 30m (98ft) from shore shortly after 03:00 BST. It was just a few feet away from the Antony Gormley sculpture, in front of the Turner Contemporary gallery. It was towed from the sea bed with the assistance of a tug 12 hours later, and is now planning to continue its journey to Antwerp, in Belgium. A coastguard spokeswoman said the fuel tanks had not been damaged. The six crew remained on board throughout the rescue operation. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-kent-41543325
