Grounding on the Ijssel
While leaving the Twente Canal, the "Jacob Hessel", 1991 ts (EU-No.: 02317814), being loaded with salt, ran aground in the morning of Oct 26, 2017 on the Geldersche IJssel. The container barge "Martinique" managed to pull the "Jacob Hessel" off again. The IJssel was closed for several hours during the salvage operation. The wheelhouse of the "Jacob Hessel" was damaged when the cable broke during the refloating work. The ship which was coming from Hengelo berthed at the Chempark Uerdingen on Oct 28.
