14 workers poisoned aboard the Jonni Ritscher

Wed Feb 06 12:44:39 CET 2013 Timsen

On Feb 6, 2013, 14 workers of the HHLA were poisonde by gas aboard the "Jonni Ritscher" which was berthed at the Burchard Quay in Hamburg, and were treated in hospital. All of them were meanwhile released. During unloading works aboard the ship which had come from Rotterdam on Feb 5 workers suddenly felt nausea, eye- and respiratory irritation. The fire brigade was alerted and cordoned off a safety zone of 150 meters before starting with measurement work. An emergency physician treated the injured, who were then taken to hospitals with ambulances. The measurements of the fire department are now analyzed, results can be expected in the early evening.
