Medevac off Brest

On April 26, 2017, at 11:04 a.m., the CROSS Gris Nez was informed by the Maritime Medical Coordination Center of Toulouse that a crew member on board the "Le Jusant" fell ill. The patient was not in an immediate emergency, so it was decided to divert the vessel into the area of ​​French responsibility of the CROSS Corsen for evacuation to a French hospital. At 2:22 p.m., the decision was made to evacuate the sailor by helicopter to the Brest hospital. A Cayman helicopter of the French Navy with a medical team on board was mobilized. The ship was about 211 km west of Brest. At 3 p.m., the sailor was hoisted and taken to the Cavale Blanche hospital.

A crewmember of the "Jusant" was injured and had to be medevaced to Brest on Feb 1. At 1:34 p.m., the MRCC Corsen was alerted by the Marine Medical Center Toulouse that a man aboard the "Jusant" was suffering from a dislocated shoulder. The boat was located at 140 miles northwest of Brest. A medevac by helicopter was decided. The CROSS Corsen dispatched a Cayman helicopter of the French Navy which took off at 2:26 p.m. with a medical team of the Army Health Service on board. After fifty minutes the helicopter arrived at the area and hoisted the patient at 3:15. The helicopter departed half an hour later.
