Security plan measures were not implemented

Thu Dec 05 10:30:40 CET 2019 Timsen

On Dec 3, 2019, an ISPS inspection was carried out aboard the 'Listervik' in the port of Mukran upon Rügen island by the water police Sassnitz. The officials found that security plan measures were not implemented in terms of access control and securing the restricted areas. Among other things, a mandatory check of on board persons had not taken place. The ship's security officer (SSO) did not have the necessary knowledge of the contents of the so-called security plan. Following a presentation by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), the SSO had to pay a security deposit of 1053.50 Euro. The ship left the port again on Dec 4 at 9.25 a.m. bound to St. Petersburg with an ETA as of Dec 6.

Freighter breached in grounding

Fri Feb 08 09:47:51 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Listervik" ran aground on Bråviken, outside Nävekvarn near Hummelvik on Feb 8, 2019, at 3.20 a.m. The ship was underway with a cargo of wheat from Nakskov to Norrköping and had a crew of 10 on board. When it got on a shallow outside Oxelösund, the hull was breached, and the ship took in water in a ballast water tank and developed a list of five degrees. The wind blew with about 15 m/s in the area. However, the situation was under control, and the vessel turned around and headed towards Oxelösund. The Swedish Coastguard sent the "KBV 313" and "KBV 502" which jointly with the pilot's boat "Pilot 212" escorted it to a berth in Oxelösund. After the ship reached the port at 5.30 a.m., the mate and the captain were questioned by the police regarding a suspicions about crime in connection with negligence at the helm. They also had to make a sobriety test. The men were in their 60s and 65s, respectively, and came from Eastern Europe. The Coast Guard had an environmental protection vessel in readiness in Oxelösund, if the situation had worsened. The Swedish Transport Agency, the police, the municipal emergency services, the county administrative board and the National Accident Investigation Board were informed of the incident. THe "Listervik" left Oxelösund on Feb 15 at 8.30 p.m. after its cargo of wheat was unloaded and transported by truck to Norrköping. The ship berthed at the Oresund Heavy Industries in Landskrona on Feb 17 at 9.50 a.m. for repairs of the damage to its ballast tanks. She left the yard in Landskrona on Feb 28 at 1.30 p.m. and headed to Gdansk, ETA March 1, 5 p.m. Swedish report with photo: https://www.kkuriren.se/sormland/dramatik-pa-braviken-90-meter-langt-fartyg-gick-pa-grund-utanfor-oxelosund/
