Lucia Colossus spotted missing yacht

Thu Dec 22 22:40:08 CET 2011 Timsen

The "Luisia Colossus" located the round-the-world sailor Sergei Morozov after his flares were spotted by the crew on Dec 22, 2011. He was proceeding towards the Island on his 35ft sailboat "Hikari Dreammaker" after having received food and supplies from the "Luisia Colossus". The Coast Guard had launched a crew aboard an HC-130 Hercules from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to search for Morozov, after his daughter reported him overdue in Bermuda. He was discovered by in the early morning. The boat had suffered engine failure but he should be able to sail towards the Island in the next two or three days, before being towed into St George's. His trip to Bermuda is the first leg of his circumnavigation, in his bid to find sponsors for a future attempt to row around the world.
