Stranded seafarers released

Mon Jun 15 20:45:42 CEST 2020 Timsen

The three Pakistani crew members of the 'Sea Horse 11' have been finally released and they reached their country recently, following the lengthy intervention of an Egyptian philanthropist, the Pakistan Embassy in Cairo, the Pakistan Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Egyptian local authorities and other concerned stakeholders. The vessel was stranded at the Safaga Anchorage in Egypt and the crew were under arrest, as owners of vessels failed to pay port and other dues. They were under detention for more than 26 months. The owners of the ship had long disappeared and abandoned the crew to their fate. There was approximately $100,000 dues to be paid to the port authorities in berthing charges.
