Supply ship boarded by perpetrators

The 'Maersk Venturer', which was anchored in position 04 44 08N, 001 35 38W, about 12 miles southeast of Takoradi, was boarded by four perpetrators, on March 11, 2021, at 01.20 a.m. They were seen by the duty watch on its security rounds. The alarm was raised, and the crew was mustered in the citadel. Hearing the alarm, the perpetrators fled without stealing any ship's property. The Takoradi authorities were informed and a patrol vessel was sent to assist.

The 'Maersk Venturer' was boarded by perpetrators who were using ropes and had approached the ship in a canoe at the Takoradi anchorage, Ghana, in position 04 43 28.8N, 001 35 14.4W, on Aug 18, 2020, at 03.50 a.m. The alarm was raised and a search of the drilling ship was conducted by the crew. Tins of paint and boxes of new lashing equipment were reported stolen.

Maersk Drilling secures contract from Tullow Ghana

Maersk Drilling has secured a four-year contract from Tullow Ghana for the deepwater drillship Maersk Venturer. Expected to start next month, the contract covers development drilling on the Jubilee and TEN fields offshore Ghana. Under the contract, Maersk Rigworld Ghana will provide local services associated with the operation. Maersk Rigworld Ghana is a joint venture (JV) between Maersk Drilling and Rigworld International Services. It intends to further expand its network of local suppliers over the course of the new contract. Maersk Drilling chief commercial officer Lars Ostergaard said: “I am very pleased that Maersk Drilling will be mobilising another deepwater rig for this significant job in a strategically important region. “Maersk Drilling will be mobilising another deepwater rig for this significant job in a strategically important region. “It is our first contract with Tullow Ghana and it is a testament to our successful operational track record in Ghana.” The company expects the contract will assist in strengthening its footprint in the region.
