Stowaway returned to Chittagong authorities

A stowaway was caught while trying to get to Singapore from Chittagong by hiding in an empty container on board the 'Haian View'. The young man was a truck driver by profession. He had entered the reserved area of Chittagong Port with a valid driver's license to drive a truck on Sep 24. On the same day, he boarded the 'Haian View' and entered the empty container. After that, when the vessel left the port, he could not bear the hunger and thirst and was caught by the vessel's staff when he came out of the container. In the meantime, the vessel sailed to Singapore and came back to Chittagong port on Oct 5. The crew handed him over to the port authorities that day. The port authorities handed him over to the port police station on the night of Oct 5. A police case has been filed against him under the Special Powers Act and attempting to leave without a passport. When he was produced in court on Oct 6 in that case, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
