ARC yacht sank following water ingress
The Swiss flagged cargo m/v "SCL Basilea" diverted near the Cape Verde Islands to render assistance to the "Magritte". The Moody Grenadier 134 was taking part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), and bound from Gran Canaria to St Lucia when it reported taking on water on Dec 3, 2015. A Mayday was broadcast and the MRCC Cape Verde coordinated the evacuation of the crew. The cargo vessel provided assistance, reaching the "Magritte" at 5 a.m.. The crew of four was safely evacuated and taken on to Pasajes. The "Magritte" was abandoned in position 16 44.36N 027 27.82W and sank short time later.
