Burst coolant pipe in main engine intake
The 'Sunny Lion', en route from Primorsk to New York with 23 crew members on board, suffered a burst coolant pipe in the main engine intake in position 50 56 57.0 N, 001 21 48.6 E in the Strait of Dover between the Varne Bank and The Colvart on Jan 28, 2022, at 3.30 p.m. The crew awaited cooling down of the engine before attempting repairs, which was estimated to need about one hour. The CNIS was aware of the incident, and the CROSS Gris Nez was informed. At 6.10 p.m. the crew completed repairs, and the ship resumed its voyage. On Jan 29 at 10.30 a.m. it moored on Portland Anchorage off Weymouth.
