Medevac of Ukrainian sailor off Scheveningen

Mon Dec 05 09:17:11 CET 2011 Timsen

On Dec 4, 2011, at 2.15 p.m. the KNRM Scheveningen was alarmed for a medevac from the "Mohegan" being en route to Dordrecht, after one of the crew fell ill. After the captain of the tanker had consultation with a doctor from the Medical Radio Service, alarm was given for the lifeboat "Kitty Rose Male Nepveu" which short time later headed for the tanker, which was about 18 miles from the shore. There was a strong wind with 7 bf, and the sea was rough. At 3.15 a.m., the patient was aboard the "Kitty Rosa Male Nepveu". While he was transported to Scheveningen, the Coast Guard ordered an ambulance. At 4 a.m. the lifeboat was back at the KNRM pontoon. The sailor from the Ukraine was examined and taken to the hospital for further treatment.
