Disabled purse seiner owed to Myre

Wed Nov 14 21:45:58 CET 2012 Timsen

The lifeboat "Knut Hoem" of the NSSR-station Myre was called to assist the "Morten Einar" which had got its propeller fouled 140 nautical miles 140 west of Øksnes on Nov 9, 2012. Following a conference call with Bodø Radio, HRS-North and the Coast Guard the "Knut Hoem" agreed to take the ship in tow. At 3.35 p.m. the boat left Myre Harbor and reached the casualty seven hours later. Weather in the area was then SE 14m /s, but the wind increased significantly during the night while the course was set for Myre Harbor. In the morning of Nov 11 the two ships reached Myre and the "Morten Einar" was safely berthed. Divers went down to clear the propeller. Three hours later the propeller was cleared and the "Morten Einar" was ready to sail again after the 40x15 meter-ring net which was destroyed by the propeller was replaced.
