Allision in Lagos

The container m/v 'GH Meltemi' (IMO: 9440306) allided with the 'MSC Carmen', which was docked at the terminal of the Ports & Cargo Handling Services Ltd. in Tincan-Lagos during berthing operations at the port on Feb 26, 2021. There were no injuries nor pollution from the incident. The Portuguese authorities have commenced procedures for collecting evidence of the incident for analysis. The 'GH Meltemi' remained berthed at the Fivestar Tincan Island Container Terminal as of March 3. Also the 'MSC Carmen remained stationary.

Container ship beset by ice

The "MSC Carmen" while departing Montreal, Quebec,became beset in ice while manoeuvring in position lat 45 57.949 N, 073 11.995 W, on Jan 22, 2019. at 2 p.m. The vessel was drifting towards shore where other vessels were anchored. It was freed approximately five hours later by the Canadian Coastguard icebreaker "Pierre Radisson" and two tugs. No injuries, damage, or pollution was reported. It finally sailed on Jan 26 aat 4.45 p.m.
