Engine trouble in Canakkale Strait

The 'MSC Eleonora', while enroute from Ashdod to Constanta, suffered a technical failure during the transit of the Canakkale Strait from the southern entrance on Nov 16, 2020, at 2 p.m. The vessel was moored at Karanlik anchorage within the Strait. Repairs have commenced by the crew and the vessel remains stationary in pos. 40° 1.97' N 026° 18.52' E as of Nov 18.

Repairs of engine going on in 2014

The "MSC Eleonora" was still underoing major engine repairs on Jan 1, 2014. The vessel had arrived at Las Palmas on Nov 23, after she sustained serious engine damage and was subsequently towed back to Las Palmas, where a complete cargo discharge took place, followed by a mechanical assessment before permanent repairs were being carried out.
