Damaged container ship underway to Besiktas Shipyard
An iitial damage surveys on the 'MSC Tina' was carried out at the anchorage area of Ambarli. The vessel was granted berthing permission from the harbour master and was re-berthed at Martas Port on March 29,in order to discharge part of the 5000 containers on board and lightering of the vessel. Subsequently, the vessel shifted to Asyaport, Tekirdag, in order to discharge the remaining cargo. The vessel will proceed to the Besiktas shipyard in Yalova upon completion of the discharge operation. Permanent repairs together with steel replacement will be carried out after the arriveal with an ETA as of April 2. When the ship allided with the quay at a speed of 4,1 knots, the hull was torn open on a length about 70 metres at the level of the waterline. The wharf also suffered serious damages. One of the three tugs involved in the docking, intervened in time to prevent the vessel from hitting the gantry cranes at the quay.
Allision in Ambarli
The 'MSC Tina', enroute from Istanbul, allided with the Marport pier in Ambarlı during the docking maneuver on March 27, 2021, and suffered severe damage. The ship suffered a breach of severel meters length just above the waterline. No injures and environmental pollutions were reported. The ship moored at the Ambarlı anchorage in pos. 40° 56.15' N 028° 38.89' E at 10.10 p.m. for investigations by the Maritime Diretorate.
