Engine failure in Istanbul Strait

Bulk carrier caused water polution in Izmit

On Sep 15, 2022, the 'Maximus 1', which was berthed in Izmi Kocaeli since Sep 13, polluted the Gulf of Izmit by discharing dirty ballast water. A pollution fine was imposed by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department due to a breach of local regulation as per Marpol rules. Engine failure off Mariupol
