Wreck removal completed

The wreck removal of the 'Dede' in Tuzla has been completed. The status of the vessel has been changed to "dead." The incident file has been closed by the Harbour Master as of Feb 17, 2021. On Feb 28, 2020, the Antigua-Barbuda-flagged cargo m/v 'Clavigo' had dragged anchor and allided with the 'Dede', causing both ships to drift onto the breakwater and become a total loss. The 'Clavigo' had arrived at the Aliaga Scrapyard Apr 2, 2020.

Wreck removal auction in Tuzla

An Auction sale, dated Jan 6, 2021, has been made by the Harbour Master of Tuzla, regarding the wreck removal of the 'Dede'. Weather permitting, the removal operation will commence in February, upon completion of environmental permissions. The 'Dede' remained stationary, partly capsized at the site, where she was hit by the Antigua-Barbuda flagged cargo m/v 'Clavigo' on Feb 28, 2020.

Underwater inspections revealed heavy damage

On March 4, underwater inspection were carried out at the 'Clavigo' and 'Dede' by diver teams. Fuel removal was to be carried out on both vessels. All cargo compartments, engine room, accommodation and ballast tanks suffered water ingress. The crews were interrogated by the Harbour Master incident investigation desk. A fine was imposed by the Harbour Master due to the breach of safe anchorage regulations. Both vessels remained partly capsized at the outer area of Tuzla shipyard breakwater.
