Odyssey of troubled ship

The 'Sally Fortune', which had suffered an engine malfunction off Balo in East Nusa Tenggara, on Feb 22, 2022, and was being repaired at anchor near a beach in Desa Hokor since, finally sailed on March 4 at around 3 a.m. The ship arrived at Surabaya anchorage on March 12 at 02.25 a.m. with the navigation status as NUC right through the voyage at a speed of about four knots. The vessel reached the port of Surabaya on March 15 at 3.30 p.m. before returning to the anchorage on March 16 at 4.40 a.m., where it remained stationary as of March 23.

Ship anchored with engine failure

The 'Sally Fortune', with 25 crew members on board, suffered an engine failure on Feb 22, 2022, and moored in the waters of the South Bola Sea, Pomat Beach, Hokor Village, Bola District, Sikka Regency. The ship had departed from the Tenau Kupang sea port on Feb 21, at 2 p.m. WITA headed to Tanjung Perak, and dropped anchor at around 9 p.m. The ship was loaded with 311 empty containers and 362 TEUs. Repair time was expected to take two days, with the ship waiting for the engine tools and mechanics. Container ship Sally Fortune captured by armed men, reportedly because of owner debts

Container ship Sally Fortune was captured by a group of men in camouflage armed with rifles in the afternoon Sep 18, vessel was about to leave Bandar Abadi Ship repair yard, Bandar Abadi, Pulau Batam island, Indonesia, Singapore Strait. Vessel was in shipyard since June 2014, under repairs. Local media said vessel was seized because of owner’s debts, there were rumors recently, that the owner didn’t pay shipyard. It is understood, that local police rejected even to register complaint. Owner said to apply to Indonesian Police Chief and to the President.
