Stinking vessel banned from port

Thu Apr 27 21:03:57 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Polaris 2" was banned from calling at Santa Cruz de Tenerife following residents protests, because the vessel was spreading nauseating stink. It was to call Santa Cruz for fodder resupply, on its journey from Vila do Conde to Port Said. The vessel was moored off Santa Cruz on Apr 24, 2017. It left the anchorage and continued vits oyage on Apr 25. Earlier it was banned from calling La Luz and Las Palmas ports for the same reason, being notoriously known for keeping cattle in poor conditions during voyages. In 2016 a veterinary inspection found that at least 300 cattle had died, out of several thousand. The dead cattle were thrown overboard on the way from Canary Islands to Gibraltar.
