Ferry suffered exhaust troubles
Two crossings from Southampton, UK, to Cowes, Isle of Wight, had to be cancelled due to an issue with the 'Red Falcon's aft main engine exhaust bellows at Southampton on Sep 3, 2023. As a result, delays of 30-40 minutes were enforced throughout the rest of the morning and the afternoon as staff worked to catch up. Already on Sep 1 there were delays of up to 60 minutes on the service of the 'Isle of Wight' from Southampton to Cowes.
Sailings cancelled due to toilet overflow
The 'Red Falcon' cancelled a couple of its sailings between Southampton, UK, and East Cowes due to issues with its onboard sewage system on July 24, 2023. The 2 p.m. sailing from Southampton and the 3.30 p.m. sailing from East Cowes were postponed, while two previous sailings being cancelled, the 11 a.n. crossing from Southampton, and the 12.30 p.m crossing from East Cowes. The toilet overflow on the vessel was the reason for the sailing's cancellation.
Ferry crew saved boater in Solent
The 'Red Falcon' was at the centre of a dramatic rescue on April 14, 2022, after a person got into trouble in the Solent. The ferry was stopped mid-sailing after staff spotted a person in the water, alongside a small dingy at around 3.30 p.m. Between 3.38 p.m. and 3.40 p.m. the crew had prepared a rescue boat for launch and within 1-2 minutes of launch they had reached the casualty. Crew reported the incident to Southampton Patrol and a rescue boat met the vessel as it docked. Emergency services attended shortly after.
