Medevac off Cherbourg

On July 30, 2014 at 3:15 p.m., the CROSS Gris-Nez was contacted by the British and German counterparts who reported a request for medical assistance by the "Reeperbahn" after a 24 year old Filipino crew member was seriously injured at the hand. The coordination of the operation was transferred to CROSS Joburg since the cargo vessel was in its area of ​​competence about 45 nautical miles northeast of Cherbourg. Immediately, the CROSS Joburg organized a conference call with the Centre for Maritime Medical Consultation in Toulouse and the SAMU in Le Havre. An urgent medical evacuation to a hospital was recommened. The CROSS Joburg mobilized an EC 225 helicopter of the French Navy Base in Cherbourg which arrived at 4:30 p.m. A rescue diver was winched aboard the vessel to prepare the transfer of the wounded who was delivered in the port of Cherbourg at 5 pm. and taken to the hospital Pasteur by ambulance. The "Reeperbahn" was en route from Voudia to Middlesborough.

During a control of the "Ranosen" at the quay of the power station Kiel-Dietrichsdorf police on Oct 23, 2010, found that the fuel tanks were filled with heavy fuel with too much sulphur. The ship was detained and only to leave after the captain had paid a safety fine of 10.505 Euro and the engine was shifted to fuel with lower sulphur share. On Oct 24 the vessel was allowed to leave port for Riga to take another cargo of coal for Kiel.
