Ferry route interrupted

Sun Apr 16 23:09:33 CEST 2017 Timsen

Ferry traffic between Kvanne and Rykkjem was interrupted on Apr 16, 2017, after the "Solnør" encountered technical problems causing a full stop on route 46 Kvanne Rykkjem until further notice. Earlier on the day there were already problems on the ferry route on the Halsa fjord due to an oil leak in a flange aboard the "Solnør". She is the only ferry that travels the fjord between Surnadal and Sunndal. At 10.30 p.m. repair work was under way, and the ferry was expected to be back on the route again at 11 p.m.

Ferry grounded off Rykkjem

Tue Oct 13 10:48:50 CEST 2015 Timsen

On Oct 13, 2015, the "Solnør" ran aground on a rock of the Røkkumsida near the pier in Rykkjem. The cars which had been loaded on board at the 6 a.m. departure from Kvanne could be driven off the ferry after she had managed to dock. The ferry had yet to be examined by divers. The cause of the grounding was unknown. A breathalyzer test of the captain was negative. In the run of the day the "Solnør" proceeded to a Yard in Kristiansund with own power for repairs. The "Tingvoll" was withdrawn from the Halsa-Kanestraum to be inserted on the Kvanne-Rykkjem route at 11.15 a.m. Norwegian report with photos: http://www.tk.no/nyheter/surnadal/sunndal/kvanne-rykkjem-innstilt/s/5-51-119084
