Disabled bulkcarrier towed to Manzanillo

The "Spar Gemini" suffered a rudder failure on June 21, 2018, in the Pacific off Baja California Peninsula enroute from Vila di Conde via Colon and Balboa to Japan and went adrift. On June 28 the disabled bulkcarrier was taken in tow by the tug "VB Tabasco" (IMO: 9395824), to Manzanillo. The convoy reached port on July 4 at 3.50 p.m., and repairs were commenced soon after. She left the port after repairs on Sep 10 and moored on anchorage C off the port at 11.30 p.m.

SPAR GEMINI experienced approach from suspected PAG off Oman

On 15-SEP-2011 at 18:30 LT ( 14:30 UTC ), the SPAR GEMINI experienced a suspicious approach while underway in position 16 30 0 N, 056 00 0 E, 115nm SE of Port Salalah, Oman on bearing 283, and 59nm due South of AL Halliniyah Island, Oman. One suspected PAG skiff approached the SPAR GEMINI at of speed of 15-20 knots. The master raised the alarm, undertook evasive maneuvers and alerted the onboard security team. The security team fired one warning shot over the skiff when it reached within 600 meters of the Bulk Carrier. The suspected PAG slowed the skiffs speed and turned away from the Bulk Carrier.
