Tue Aug 30 10:59:03 CEST 2016 Timsen

Spirit Cruises suspended the captain of the "Spirit of Baltimore" which crashed into a dock in Maryland. Two of the 412 passengers on board had suffered minor injuries. They were taken to a hospital and have since been released. The dock was damaged and two small boats were scratched by the ship which did not incur any significant damage and has been cleared to sail. Future cruises will go on as scheduled. An investigation of 10 years' worth of records showed nearly half a dozen cases during which authorities looked into the "Spirit of Baltimore". Five months ago, the U.S. Coast Guard investigated the ship after a similar incident occured. In these cases, the ultimate responsibility lies with the captain. The Coast Guard will also review human error as a potential factor in the incident.
