Ferry aground in Hardanger Fjord

Sun Jan 11 13:26:42 CET 2015 Timsen

The "Stallovarre" ran aground off Varaldsøy in the evening of Jan 10, 2015. The Coastguard vessel "Ålesund" was sent to assist to the grounding site in the Hardanger Fjord and reached the casualty around midnight. No one was injured in the grounding. It was just a crew of five aboard the ferry when it was stuck on an islet off Varaldsøy in powerful waves and stormy wind gusts when it approached the dock. The "Alesund" guarded all night, before the tug "BB Worker" (IMO: 9360051), arrived in the morning of Jan 11. After two hours pulling, the tug managed to refloat the ferry at 11:06 a.m. and started towing it to Varaldsøy. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.bt.no/nyheter/Ferge-pa-grunn-3278583.html
