Engine breakdown off Réunion
The 'Messila' suffered an engine breakdown between Mauritius and Réunion on May 27, 2021, and notified the MRCC Réunion. A tug was called to assist and towed the ship to the East Harbour in Réunion, on June 4, 2021, at 09.15 a.m. LT. The vessel was subsequently detained by the PSC.
Damaged ship shifted to dry dock
The 'Messila' which had run aground in the eastern coast of Tilos in position 36 26 08 N 027 23 59 E on Aug 27, 2020, and was permitted to sail to Haydarpasa, on Nov 8 shifted from shipyard pier to dry dock in Tuzla in order to carry out steel replacement in damage sustained location of the bottom section. Subsequently, tightness test will be conducted on the ballast tanks upon completion of final repairs.
Repairs of grounding damage in Tuzla
The 'Messila', which had run aground off Tilos on Aug 27, has been granted a single voyage departure permission from Tilos Island to Haydarpasa. During the transit of the Canakkale Strait, a Coastal Safety tug and a pilot provided escort service for the vessel and traffic safety. Upon the completion of the cargo discharge operations, the vessel was shifted from Haydarpasa to the Tuzla shipyard area. The vessel entered the shipyard on Oct 11. A damage survey and marking of the damaged location was carried out. The replacement of steel on the damaged and deformed locations was under progress by the shipyard teams as of Oct 22.
