Missing crew member recovered by divers

On Sep 8 divers of the Quang Ngai province recovered the body of the missing crew member of the 'Trung Thao 36-BLC' which had exploded on Sep 7 off the port of Dung Quat at 06.30 a.m. The vessel was anchored and waiting to enter the port, when an explosion suddenly occurred, followed by a fire. The fire was extinguished around 8 a.m. The other 11 crew members were rescued, the tanker was torn up amidships and heavily damaged.

The 'Trung Hhao 36 BLC' suffered an explosion in the cargo tanks amidships at port side in the morning of Sep 7, 2020. The tanker was waiting for permission to enter the Dung Quat port, Quang Ngai iu Central Vietnam. Some of the 12 crew members were thrown overboard by the blast. One of them went missing, 11 were rescued. A fire which broke out after the explosion was extinguished by SAR forces and tugs within about one hour. The tanker was sailing in ballast, so it was probbable that fumes in the cargo tanks had ignited.
