Grounding in Mälaren

Wed Mar 25 09:47:44 CET 2015 Timsen

On Mar 25, 2015, at 03:28 a.m. the Swedish Coastguard was notified that the "Unistar" had run aground in Mälaren enroute from St. Petersburg to Hasselby. The ship had just passed the locks in Södertälje when it got stuck underway to Mälaren possibly due to a rudder failure. No spills, no injuries reported. The Coastguard dispatched the "KBV 315" and "KBV 031", the latter having divers on board. After the "Unistar" managed to refloat at 4.21 a.m, she headed to Södertälje with own power where inspections were carried out by Coastguard divers after the ship docked at berth 4 in the outer port, proceeding further to Hasselby in the morning of Mar 26.

Unistar arrested in Wismar

Wed Feb 11 22:26:50 CET 2015 Timsen

The "Unistar" was detained in the port of Wismar due to a technical malfunction on Feb 10, 2015. The ship had arrived from Tahkoluoto two days ago. During a control on Feb 9 the police remarked an unusual large amount of oil residues in the engine room. The bildge and parts of the engine room were contaminated. Obviously repair works were being carried out without an explanation about the cause of the bad state of the engine room. The class of the ship waqs thus withdrawn until the defiencies were resolved.
