Disabled cargo ship towed to Port Angeles

Thu May 22 10:54:30 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "Westwood Columbia" was towed to Port Angeles after losing power in the middle of the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Neah Bay on May 19, 2014. The vessel was outbound with lumber and other cargo when the failure occurred in Canadian waters. An emergency response tug based at Neah Bay towed the ship to Port Angeles in less than an hour. The ship was being repaired for what appeared to be an electrical problem. It had to pass a Coast Guard inspection before it got back underway on May 22 bound for Longview.
