YM FOUNTAIN 9278090

Wed Nov 10 10:56:35 CET 2010 Timsen

The Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Group is arranging to debunker the fuel the "YM Fountain" had acquired in Singapore on NBov 9, 2010. The company had bought 1,500 mt of 500 CST bunker fuel from a supplier in Singapore to be delivered to the "YM Fountain", but when tested, the fuel was found to have more than 212 mg/kg of aluminum and silicon, or Al+Si. The latest ISO 8217:2010 standard specifies that the maximum limit for Al+Si for this grade of bunker fuel is 60 mg/kg. Yang Ming had used L.A. Singapore Bunker Surveyors Pte Ltd to test the off-specification bunker fuel. The Maritime Port Authority of Singapore had yet to respond to the queries with regards to the debunkering of the "YM Fountain". After the debunkering process, the off-specification bunker fuel, which originated from a landed oil terminal in Singapore belonging to a major oil company, will be returned to the terminal.
