Third salvage attempt failed
The salvage of the "Shuya" proved to be more complicated than expected. Also the third salvage attempt with the high tide in the night from July 5 to 6 failed. On July 4 the tugs "Wulf 7" and "Wulf 9" had been called from Cuxhaven and tried in vain to pull the vessel from the sand bar. In the run of the day the ballast water was pumped out. The next attempt of the multi purpose vessel "Neuwerk" during the following night was a failure too. The "Nordic" remained in attendance near the grounding site. It waqs now being thought about lightering the cargo of 4.000 tons salt as well as the 40 tons marine diesel in the fuel tanks. On July 6 the survey ship "Baumrönne" (IMO: 9082219) went alongside the casualty. In the run of the day the tug "Jade" (IMO: 9212278) followed. German reports with photos:
