Ferry served as floating hospital due to fires in Greece
The "Adamantios Korais" has been temporarily turned into a floating hospital on Aug 22, 2023. Due to the recent fires in northern Greece, a complete hospital had to be evacuated at night and was set up on the ferry without further ado. In the meantime, the ferry has brought all the patients to the port of Kavala, where after their disembarkation the route to Samothraki was resumed at 10 p.m.
Engine trouble in Alexandroupolis
The 'Adamantios Korais' suffered a malfunction of the starboard side main engine, while preparing the departure from Alexandroupolis on its scheduled route to the ports of Samothraki and Mirina on July 5, 2023. The Central Port Authority of Alexandroupolis initially prohibited the departure of the vessel. Following repairs and an inspection, and issue of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it, the vessel was permitted to sail on its planned itinerary in the afternoon of the same day.
Crew member injured in fall on board
The Port Authority of Samothraki was informed in the morning of July 12, 2022, by the Master of the 'Adamantios Korais' about the injury of a 60-year-old crew member during the ship's berthing manoever at the port of Kamariotissa, Samothraki. He was injured on the ship after falling on the deck. The man was transported by ambulance to the Samothraki Health Center and then transferred to the Alexandroupolis University Hospital by a patrol boat. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Authority.
