Atlantis speared Schilksee

Mon Jul 29 10:08:08 CEST 2013 Timsen

On July 27, 2013, the "Schilksee" allided with the Dutch charter sailing s/v "Atlantis" (IMO: 8333635) at the Tiessen Quay in Kiel-Holtenau and got speared by its bowsprit. When leaving the quay during a harbour round trip, the passenger ferry was caught by a wind gust at 12.20 p.m. and drifted towards the sailing ship which was moored at the quay and its starboard smokestack got tangled in the bowsprit of the "Atlantis". Initially the "Atlantis" could have suffered damage in such a manoever, a part of the smokestack of the "Schilksee" was welded off to get the ship released. In the night of July 29, a new plate was welded onto the smokestack and the "Schilksee" returned to service. Atlantis on the wrong side

Fri Jul 29 10:49:23 CEST 2011 Timsen

The "Atlantis" ran aground in the Lindal Strait, Stockholm, on July 23, 2011, and stayed stuck until July 24 when she got refloated. Obviously the three masted vessel had tried to pass on the wrong side of the lighthouse. The ship proceeded to Kappelshamn where she berthed on July 27 before continuing to Visby.
