Cargo suffered damage in heavy weather

Fri Nov 26 18:18:09 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'BBC Zarate', en route from Tampa to Summerside with 2751.42 metric tonnes of Premium K-Mag fertilizer, 6428,16 metric tonnes of DAP fertilizer and 1999.10 metric tonnes of MES 10 fertilizer on board, encountered heavy weather with northeast-east winds of force 7, gusts 9 and heavy south-southwest seas up to 4 up to 5,5 metres, causing it to roll, pitch, and strain heavily from Nov 12 to Nov 17, 2021. The list of the vessel exceeded up to 30 degrees to both sides with rolling periods of 15 seconds. The hatch covers, manholes and deck cargo were sprayed over by seawater. Additionally, the hold 2 and hold 3 had some water ingress, damaging a percentage of the K-Mag and DAP fertilizer.

Ferry capsized after collision

Fri Feb 15 19:12:50 CET 2019 Timsen

In the morning of Feb 15, 2019, the "BBC Zarate" was in collision with the river ferry "Men del Norte 2" at the junction of the Amazon and Italia (Iquitos). The ferry had departed from the Masusa Port and was bound for the city of Pucallpa, when it collided with the cargo ship because he did not notice the presence of the other vessel and made a delayed maneuver to avoid the collision. It got stuck on the bow of the freigher which was enroute from Iquito to Manaus and anchored in pos. 03° 40.53' S 073° 13.88' W. The ferry slowly sank, but with the crew of the other vessel and captaincy of the port, the 200 passengers and crew were evacuated. No missing persons have been reported. Two trucks were swallowed by the Amazon River, as well as motorcycle taxis, cattle heads and poultry. The ferry also carried construction materials.
