Perpetrators boarded tanker

An engine of the 'Athenia' spotted four perpetrators trying to enter the engine room, while the tanker was proceeding in northwestern direction in the Malacca Strait in position 01 15 45N, 103 23 40E, on Sep 12, 2021, at 8.30 p.m. The general alarm was raised after the oiler reported the sighting to the bridge. A search was conducted by the crew, and nothing was reported missing. The perpetrators fled the scene when their presence was discovered and there was no reported damage to the vessel nor injury to crew.

Gunmen entered tanker in Lagos

Gunmen have released the "SP Atlanta" which was hijacked off the coast of Nigeria on Aug 14, 2013. The Indian-based managers Medallion Marine lost contact with the tanker in the evening of Aug 11, but resumed communication late on Aug 13. The vessel was now fully under control of the company and all the crew were safe. The gunmen boarded the vessel while it was anchored near Lagos port.
